Tutorial 1
Cowboy Art Society Dr. Monomer Palmer (Moni to his friends) is a well-respected art historian who specializes in the work of western artists. He is also the founder of the Cowboy Art Society. The society has recently received a grant to create an educational Web site that presents artwork as well as historical and biographical information about western artist Charles M. Russell. The following memo outlines the research that was done for the new site by reviewing existing Web sites that present artwork for educational purposes and by finding current trends in art education. It also includes information on what image file formats are compatible with Dreamweaver.

Re: Cowboy Art Society Web Site
I have researched various web sites on the topics of western art, cowboy art, Charles Russell, art education and trends in art education. The list of websites, their URL’s and brief notes on how they were organized and what images they contain is included at the end of this memo. I would recommend the Cowboy Art Society Web site contain the following:
- The standard Home, About Us and Contact Us web pages.
- A History page containing a definition and a brief history of western art. This page should discuss the influences of pioneer, cowboy and Native American cultures. If necessary, a separate Web page could be done for each.
- An Artists page listing past and current influential western artists (Charles Russell, Remington, etc). Each artist would have a link to a biographical information page, a link to pictures of their art and a link to a page containing the names of museums across the country where their art may be seen in person.
- An Education page containing information on art classes, lessons, workshops and field trips offered around the country with the ability to locate what is available near the user.
- A Connect page where social networking could be used to connect artists and educators in their love of western art and allow them to collaborate together.
One current trend in art education involve the use of technology to allow people to view art they may not otherwise be able to see. Another trend uses social networking which is used to connect and collaborate. The Web Site should include many images to enhance the experience of the user. Dreamweaver supports the following file types: .htm, .html, .css, .gif, .jpeg, .xml, .xsl, .cfml and .php. Let me know if you have any questions.
